2016 REEMS REU Kick-off MeetingThe Kick-Off meeting for the Houston Community College (HCC) Research Experiences and Exploration in Materials Science (REEMS) for Houston Community College Students took place this past Tuesday at the Unversity of Houston. The REEMS program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation Division of Materials Research and coordinated by HCC. More information about the program can be found through the REEMS program website and through the NSF.

This summer, a total of 8 students will participate in the program. Each student will spend 10 weeks at a research lab at Rice or the University of Houston working on a materials-science related project. Students will work full time and receive a stipend.

The Verduzco laboratory will host two students this summer, Niloufar Jafari and Shams Albayati. Both students will work with Jorge Mok and will help in the testing of conjugated polymer blends in organic photovoltaic devices.
